Planting trees through JogoGreen.com
is a fantastic way to be green and eliminate your carbon footprint, but there are so many other easy ways to do your part in saving the environment. In fact, most of them will even save you money.Green Tip #1) Replace old incandescent light bulbs with Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFL) which use about one-fifth the electricity, and give off much less heat. New CFL bulbs cost considerably more than incandescents up front, but last 10 times longer, meaning a CFL will pay for itself long before it burns out. Find out LOTS more at 18seconds.org
Green Tip #2) Be conscious of your thermostat. Adjusting your air conditioning or heating just 2 degrees will save more energy than you think. Also, remember to shut off the A/C when you’re out of town: it’s almost always more efficient to re-condition the house than to keep the A/C on the whole time.
Green Tip #3) Recycle paper, bottles, and cans to help shrink our landfills. Every piece of garbage that is recycled means that resources are saved and landfill space is conserved. Learn about how to make your recycling effort even better at earth911.org
Green Tip # 4) Drive less. Try to combine many small trips into fewer large ones. Also, driving just a couple miles per hour slower than your normal speed will increase gas mileage more than you think. To make an even bigger impact, try carpooling or even walking or riding a bike.
Green Tip #5) Conserver water. From turning off the faucet while you brush your teeth to cutting a minute off your shower time, little commitments can make a big difference in the long run.
Green Tip #6) Reuse paper bags from the store, or bring your own reusable bag. When forced to use new bags, choose paper to help cut back on greenhouse gasses. Think about how many bags you’ll be saving every time you shop. Some stores have even started to give discounts to shoppers who bring their own.
Green Tip #7) Conserve paper. Unsubscribe to junk mail or magazines, and recycle what you do read. When printing, try to use both sides of the page. Finally, use old paper to jot notes.
Green Tip #8) Sign up for the JogoGreen newsletter. The bimonthly email newsletter gives green tips, highlights environmentally friendly companies, and gives interesting statistics about the Jogo community.
